Found Wood Carving
The term “found wood” literally means carvings created from pieces of wood or bark that were found in nature! I have dabbled in this area for a bit and really enjoy it. Each carving will be different than the rest giving it a unique look. You’ll never have two the same! Luckily for me I only have to drive about 20 minutes up the road and I have a beautiful nature reserve that is full of deadfall.
One of my favorite things to carve in found bark especially is a castle tower or a gnomes home! It’s easy to make the wood look like brick or stone, and you can put in windows in as well. I like to string various colored LED lights in the back of the castle tower to create a glow through the windows!
In future editions on this site, I will be detailing step by step instructions on how I carve the gnomes homes and castle towers, and how the lights get added.
But for now, here are some of my finished products!!
